Olympic Torch prepares to make its way to Sarnia-Lambton
![]() Just this past week, the Olympic torch was lit in Greece, as it prepares to make the long voyage to Canada in advance of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. After 21 years, the Olympic Torch will return to the Streets of Sarnia-Lambton on December 24, 2009. It will be an honour to host the Torch in our community, as we gather together to ramp up our efforts to bring home Gold for the first time on Canadian soil with the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia. I wish all the participants in the upcoming run the best of luck and thank the community for its strong support. Sarnia was a previous “Torch Run Community” in the run-up to the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary, Alberta. And I also extend my best wishes to our Canadian athletes as they enter the final phase of their training in preparation to bring home the Gold in 2010!. |
